hey all....
so i was in my '89 900T cruising up I-95 in PA yesterday when i noticed my car making an odd noise. for some time now, there has been a faint vibration that comes in pulses....not fast, just like every other second or so. it was barely even noticeable, no one but neurotic old me could tell it was there. 5 spd in my car has been very solid, just makes a lot of noise under engine braking. BUT now the noise is getting nasty. it's more like a "WHOOOOOM......WHOOOOOM.......WHOOOOOOM" as i cruise along- still not a constant sound, and still not a rapidly repeating sound. it only seems to happen above 65 MPH, and seems to get less nasty around 80 or so. below those speeds, trans sounds totally normal. it seems to go away when the clutch is depressed, but it's hard to tell road and engine noise from real noise at those speeds. i did recently add intrax lowering springs to the car....could this have screwed with something? i'm really just praying that it's anything but a dying trans....tell me there are other things that could be wrong, PLEASE!!
thanks for your inputs!
