How to trick the continuum (PS fluid leak related)

Last week on here I was advised that when pulling the hoses from the PS fluid reservior that I would end up cracking the smaller plastic nipple, in fact to just crack it anyway or incur the wrath of the continuum. Well, since that (cracked nipple, curse, glued it back on, drove to junkyard for replacement part) already happened a week earlier while retrofitting the 16V PS res container onto my 82 chassis, I knew what to look out for this time. Yet, because of the strict SAAB repair continuum - which states that no DIY chore is ever successful without shifting the problem elsewhere on your car, or upon the car of another SAAB owner - and because the PS fluid leak fix was successful (by removing the low pressure return line from the rack, cutting off the loosened metal crimp and refitting the hose with two hose clamps), I had to come up with something fast to either confuse, placate or otherwise distract the continuum. So I did all three in one fell swoop by jumping immediately into a euro made 10 speed bike restoration. The distraction I believe was to keep the car up on the ramps while beginning the bike work, confusing the continuum into believing the car chore wasn't complete, while at the same time placating it with a bike related chore since bike wrenching is free of continuum shift. Sort of a logic loop exit trick.
