pcv valve.....

hi, this may sound like a stupid question, but I'm just very curious. I have a 90 spg, and a few days ago I was cleaning my engine and noticed that the small hose coming from the pcv valve no longer had a small yellow connector like thing on it. Normally the hose went for a few inches and then this connector connected it to another hose which then ran into something else, throttle body possibly? Sorry I dont know all that much about the certain engine components. I had an idling issue and my mechanic did some work on it and whatnot and now there is just one continuous hose. Ever since I noticed this Ive been paranoid that im not boosting fully, could this cause a lack of boost? Im just curious as to what the function of that piece was. Sorry for my crude description to my problem, any kind of info would be helpful. Thank you.
