Hello, my name is Jenny and I'm getting conflicting information from two different Saab dealerships. I was hoping someone out there can help me out a bit.
Basically, the battery died and the radio went kaput. It took me a while to get the code in, but now something really strange is happening. In order to get the radio to work I have to punch in the code, wait until those four flat lines show up again, then press band for awhile and shut the radio off. Then, I wait around 30 seconds and turn the radio back on. Voila! It works! But only for approx. 2 minutes and then it asks for the code again...
One dealership told me to go out and buy a Kentwood for cheap because my radio would cost around $800 to fix or $1100 to replace.
I don't want a Kentwood though. I love my car exactly the way it is and I want exactly the same thing/ same look.
So, I called another Saab dealership an hour away and they tell me that this sort of thing happens alot and it would take around $175 to send it to Clarion and get it fixed.
Who's right here? Should I drive an hour away for my radio, or should I just try to find a second hand Clarion unit and have it installed? I don't know what to do.
I don't know if it matters, but she's a 1996 900s.
