If the top is ok other then the tear you can try this patch.
Be sure you can get your hand under the headliner and feel the tear.
Go to the hardwear store and buy some glue called "Goop".
Get some canvis faberic somewhere that is as strong as the top faberic.
Get some duct tape.
open the top a bit and put something between the top and the windshield so it will stay open, say 6" or so
Stich the tear from the outside and do a good neet job.
cut the faberic you got at lease 6 inches wide and 4" longer then the tear.
then take the faberic and put duct tape on it so that the tape sticks past the faberic, you will need the tape to hold the patch while the goop is drying.
then smooth the goop on the patch and be generous and spearing at the same time.
then reach you hand under the top, between the headliner and stick the patch to the underside of the tear. be sure the duct tape sticks to the canvis. Then take a wad of old towles or something and shove it between to push the patch to the top. Then let it sit for at least 4 hours. If the Lord is with you it will hold untill something elce tears. As someone elce said, save your coin. Also I give you one more bit of advice, if your going to keep the car and you do replace the top, REPLACE THE BACK GLASS AT THE SAME TIME, dont be foolish like I did and drove around for a year with a new top and the back glass falling out about a year later!!! Keep saabing, 90 900TC
