I'm in North Baltimore. I do most of my own repairs now, but I used API in Elkridge (S. Hanover St. off Rt.1) in the past. Found them in magazines when I was living in NYC and for some reason remembered them once I relocated to Baltimore. They were in Odenton back then and moved to Elkridge 3 or so years ago. SAAB, Volvo, BMW specialists. One of the owners, Jack (I forget his partner's name) is a great guy - fair and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend API.

There's Autohaus in Ft. Washington on Falls Rd. They seem to have a decent reputation, but I was put off by the owner's attitude when I met him. Just a bit too snaabish for a blue collar stiff like myself. At least that's my take on it. Maybe he was just having a bad day, but it cost him my business just the same.

I urge anyone in the Baltimore area to AVOID Parkway Auto Repair on Liberty Road just north of Northern Pkwy. They claim to be Saab specialists and the lot in front of their shop supports that claim. They charged me $2300 for a tranny rebuild back in '98. Later, I had two different Saab techs on separate occasions tell me whoever installed that tranny did shabby work - used the wrong sealing compound with the gasket - leading to multiple leaks. Prior to these techs enlightening me, I took a car in for a battery drain problem. I later discovered I was charged $60 dollars for the disconnection of my trunk light ground wire. Needless to say, I haven't been back.

I've visited Viking when they were in Damascus. Had a pleasant conversation with John(?). I was impressed by his willingness to talk to a Saab lover and potential client even while his shop was busy. Customer service goes a long way with me. However, Damascus and now Gaithersburg are a little too far out of my way. Danneman's in Laurel also specializes in Saab, and made a great first impression, but Elkridge is a bit closer and I like the people there.

I've presented quite a few options. Some like to have a lot of options from which to choose; how you're one of them. :o)
