For starter, I don't put the longs ones back in. I use the shorter stud at all 7 places. Also I don't replace the three short studs due too that they are not as fragile as the long ones.
To drill out the broken one can be a handful and great care has to be taken so you drill in the center of the bolt. You also need to first get the bolt to move further into the head and use a 5/16 drill to remove the first two threads in cylinder head.
Those threads are damaged by the shoulder of the stud. If you try to extract the stud right away it is big chances that the broken stud freeze up against those mangled threads and you are in even bigger trouble.
