1. Yup, a 533 is an LH 2.2, so you should have a 3-pin AIC valve. Sounds like some previous owner turned it into a hybrid - that's the nice word. Check for splices in the wiring harness if the connector only has 2 slots for the terminals. It sounds like you've got the right AMM - which is a good thing because the later ones could damage your ECU. The stamped number on the plastic cover shoud end in 005.

2. The reason that the APC box is still sensing knock may be the spark plug wires. If they're not OEM Bougicords or Magnacores, they're not properly shielded and emit RF noise. The radio noise is picked up through the knock sensor cable and is interpreted as knock by the APC box as knock.

3. Sounds like you either have a vacuum leak or that the AMM isn't properly adjusted. Vacuum leaks are the bane of the Turbo driver. Here's a checklist that will hit 85% of the boost problems:

- Replace all vacuum hoses with 3.5 mm hose. Some people (like myself) like silicone hoses, others are OK with standard rubber hoses. I bought 25 feet and had a decent amount left over. After a decade or so, the hoses tend to get brittle and crack. Guaranteed you won't see every little check in a hose that lets air in. Replace 'em all.

- Replace the rubber bushings that hold the vacuum nipples into the intake manifold and into the valve cover. They tend to shrink and let air in.

- Strongly consider replacing the valve cover gasket. It can be a huge vacuum leak.

- Replace the rubber bushing that holds the PVC hose into the plastic turbo duct. It has a thin part that wears and can leak air into the system.

- Check all of the rubber boots that connect the turbo ducting together for splits or cracks and tighten all of the hose clamps. Sunday, I saw one in an '88 that was badly chewed up and probably leaked like a sieve. Probably that's the reason that it was in the pick-n-pull.

- Check the injector O-rings for air leaks by playing some unlit propane around them. If the engine speeds up, you've found a leak.

- Check the vacuum grommet on the brake booster the same way.

These will get you started on the road to diagnosis.
