the fuel pump might be an idea. the body on the car has 160k and I have no idea if the fuel pump was ever replaced. as for spark plug wires they are new within the year so that should not be a factor. one thing that was odd is cyl 3 when i pulled the plugs to check on them it was caked with oil and not burned but as if I dipped it in oil and so i am sure that cylinder wasnt firing at all. i cleaned it up and put it back in and checked it a few days later and it was fine, odd. the oil marker is still at max so it doesnt seem to be eating oil but I still get loads of smoke at startup that eventually goes away. oh, o2 sensor was replaced within the last year.
another problem thats recent is the steering wheel while turning makes a clicking noise and the steering also is very stiff. I think the power steering unit is shot because it used to make this electronic/air sound and now nothing but clicks. its something to do with a a servo or vacuum.
