Hi Folks, my blessed 900S 1991 Convertible is in the continuum and doesn't want to come out. One morning I started the car and drove it to work, it starts a little slower and weaker then usual but did ok. Once I arrived at work I shut the car off and then restarted it to make sure that it was fine. It Started fine. Time to go home and cars doesn't start, and of course I parked right in front of the main exit door for the office park... :-( AAA tows it home. I think the issue is the Ignition Amplifier based on the following, please share with me what your thoughts are:
Fuel pump doesn't turn on, no spark "flashed" with my timing light.
1st Ignition Relay....relay is getting voltage and when voltage is applied the relay closes and continuity is created. Placed this back into it position.
2nd)Coil center pole to small screw terminal 1(-) has 7.29 Ohms as 20k setting. Seems good based on bentley Two smaller nut poles has 1.2 Ohms, but then subtract out resitance of the multimeter (.4) = .8 Ohms. Matched Bentley manual as ok
3rd) Main ignition wire (from coil to distrubtor ohms at 1200) seems good
4th) Rotor ohms ~ 1059 seems good, continuity exists from rotor caps top to rotor contact point.
5th) Power is being received by the ignition coil's two leads going to the coil's two terminals 1(-) and 15(+) which is good...but I think we will come back to this......
6th)cranked engine with multimeter's test wires on terminals 1(-) and 15(+) no voltage spike to 6V....... Bentley says this is the Ignition Amplifier's failure
7th)Ignition AMplifier checked voltage between terminal 4 and 2 = 11.6 Volts = seems good...means ignition amplifier is receiving power to operate.
8th) Checked the pulse signal from the EZK control unit to amplifier.... connected multimeter to Ignition amplifier's terminals 5(+) and 2(-). Cranked car but no oscillatin of volts between 0 and 8.......Bentley also says that this is the fault of the ignition amplifier.
Question 1) I tried to check the EZK control unit at terminal 24 and 20.........BUT I could not find any numerical references as to which pin was which...any pointers on this? From which side do I count pins from? top to bottom, left to right, right to left, wraps around down or to the otehr side?
Question 2) Where is this hall sensor, how large is it, my distrubtor does not have anythin on it, or inside of it that I can see....It does have a single wire going from a screw near the base of the distributor through a small cylinder (which is attached onto the ignition coil) with a wire coming out of it to terminal 1(-)
Question 3) Do you think it is the ignition coil or should I check something else?
Thank you.
