I'm on my second C900. This one's a 92' 5 speed turbo. I just helped my roomate find a new car. She got a 2002 VW Golf 1.8T with the AT (tried to talk her into the MT). It's nice, and quick, but after spending all day in VW's, Mazda's, and Subaru's, it was nice to get back in the Saab.
And I like my lack of car payments. In fact, I'm scared what I'm going to do if I ever have to replace this Saab. It was hard to find. If you get one you'll quickly find yourself spoiled. They are great in bad weather, they are quick with the 5 speed and the Turbo, and they make you feel safe when you're going 80 mph on I95 and there's some guy in the lane next to you going way too fast in his Expedition or his Explorer or his Grand Whatever. You can't put a price on feeling protected.
If you're getting one then use this board for help and find a good mechanic in your area ASAP. There should be plenty in Maine because they're popular cars up North. Just make sure you keep the fluids clean and stay on top of things and everyone'll be happy.
For what it's worth. My dad's got a newish Honda. The parts aren't cheap and neither is the shop's hourly labor. And it's been in the shop a lot more than the Honda people would like to admit. Compare a base model Civic etc. to a C900 at the same price point and you'll be impressed.
Have fun.
