1987 900 Thermo Time Switch (8 valve) - Where is it? Posted by Frank [Email] (#2509) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Frank) on Sat, 21 Aug 2004 08:44:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi,
I have a 1987 Saab 900 with the base 8-valve engine, and I'm having the morning cold-start drivability problems for the first ~5 minutes which, it seems, are 'classic' indicators of a failure of the thermo time switch.
The problem is this -- based on the diagram in my POS aftermarket repair book (and on other postings) the thermo-time switch is usually located between the intakes on top of the engine. There IS a sensor there on my Saab, but it has two push-on wires, just like the 115 degree sensor sitting next to it. Is this really the thermo-time switch? It doesn't look like the photo in the parts catalog, which shows a wire-cage-connection thingie.
Did they move this sensor for 1987?
Thanks in advance,
Frank
