You mean this evaporator core? Posted by RS [Email] (#15) [Profile/Gallery] (more from RS) on Mon, 30 Aug 2004 21:04:43 In Reply to: Re: Check some of the site sponsors, Frank Kamm, Mon, 30 Aug 2004 17:53:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The puck, puck, puck is from the evaporative loss control system. It collects gasoline vapors in the carbon canister and lets them get burned. No connection to the A/C system.
That seems to be a reasonable explanation, but I would suspect that the one of the connectors on one of the hoses or the compressor seals before I'd suspect the evaporator core.
If your A/C system is low on refrigerant, the pressure switch on the receiver/dryer won't let the A/C compressor clutch pull in. The easy check is to jumper the two connectors on the receiver/dryer pressure switch. If the A/C compressor kicks on when you bypass that switch (with the engine running and the A/C switch on, of course) then your system is low on refrigerant. The best way to find the leak is to use a refrigerant sniffer or fluorescent dye rather than to start replacing things.
