Be careful to make sure you put the switch together correctly. If not, it won't work, clean contacts or not. They're a little finicky to assemble.
Did both switches/windows stop working at the same time? If so, have you checked the fuse? (my apologies if I've insulted your intelligence!)
Whenever I have _one_ window stop working, the first thing I do is swap the switches left to right - before taking any switches apart or taking any other action. This way you can isolate the problem to the switch or the motor/wiring.
If this test indicates that the switch is ok (if it works on the other side), then I pull the leads off the motor and look for +/-12VDC when I press the switch one way or the other. If this test passes, it's the motor.
Good luck!
