Automatic Transmission Leaking - help Posted by Paul [Email] ![]() ![]() |

Hi:
The transmission on this car has a pretty good (bad!) leak. Both Pans have been re-sealed twice using new gaskets and the thick “stiffeners” that go between the pan and the bolts. I wouldn’t rule out that I’ve just done a poor job and it is till the pan(s), but I am hoping that someone can suggest a ore systematic approach for identifying the source of this leak.
I’ve searched the archives a bit, and as I understand it, the possibilities include:
- Pan(s)
- The Transmission selector Cable O-Ring on the US passenger side of the transmission.
- A “weep hole” or seam that sometimes leaks. Options appear to be pulling the Engine/Trans and re-seal. Or there are several posts referring to a sometimes successful repair using JB Weld. I can’t find anything that more specifically identifies WHERE this hole / seam is. Can someone help me with that so I can look at my leak more closely and see if that’s a possibility? Thanks.
Other thoughts?
Thanks,
Paul
