I was thinking of the problem for awhile but can't come up with any good solutions in how to hold it together.
The "special tool" is kind of a sheet metal fork that is pushed over the bearing and bellow with U-shaped cut outs for the slave cylinder in one end and the clutch shaft in the other.
It's no easy way to manufacture one.
I wonder if you might be able to use a very fine and strong wire that goes in through the center and twist it together on the outside. 2 of them opposite each other that would compress it.
The wire has to be fine enough so that it can be cut and pulled out after the throwout bearing have slid up onto the slave cylinder. I don't think plastic tie wraps are useable due to that they are too thick.
OR? you might be able to show the whole package down there holding it together with your hands only.
The biggest challenge would be to get the 3 bolts in with the bellow covering up the holes in slave cylinder.
Do you have a Saab spacer ring to compress the pressure plate? It is crucial to be able to compress the pressure plate as much as possible to make room for the whole setup to slide down into the transmission.
