thanks alot - I really appreciate your advice. I will do this in the next day or so.
only have one other question.. might seem dumb though, but I honestly don't know.
ok.. I made a mistake on which bolt was actually broken.
I have a 1987 900 turbo 16 valve
there are 3 bolts on the top (which were short - just nuts)
and
4 bolts on the bottom (which were longer and had sleeves)
the long bolts all came totally out - not just the nut off..
they were all so rusted, I couldn't tell if it was a bolt head or nut at the end of the sleeve.
so the one that broke off (flush where the nut was on the manifold) was the first top one - closest the firewall.
my question is.. are all of these studs suppose to come out totally?
cause the ones that had just a nut - only the nut unscrewed.. except the one I busted off of course.
so when I manage to get the manifold totally off, the broken off bolt will be sticking out of the head with an inch or so.
will that broken off stud unscrew from the head? are there threads that hold it in the head like the long bolts that had the sleeves?
I'm praying that there are, because if it does - there is a chance that when the manifold comes off, I might have a chance of using a vice grip on it and unscrewing it.
I'll wait to hear back from you before I try anything..
regardless I'm going to borrow a dremel from my folks and buy the bits I need.. checking with swedish dynamics to see if I can still get a copper manifold gasket that they were selling awhile ago.
