the flywheel or pilot or spigot bearing is not as audibly noticeable. the symptom on my car of a worn pilot bearing was clunking going into reverse and some difficulty going into 1st gear. if that bearing is worn, it keeps the flywheel spinning even in neutral, so that when you move into either 1st or reverse you get synchro engagement in 1st and gear engagement (thus the clunking) in reverse (since no synchro) when you shouldnt.
