and it's definitely a pink elephant. The timing cover seals against the head gasket at the top, the transmission case at the bottom, and the block on either side. This piece of paper seals the right side (looking at the crank pulley) to the block under the exhaust manifold, around the PS pump, but it's pretty USELESS without it's mate that goes under the water pump on the left. So it looks like it's all about the Loctite 518 at this point.

We need to collectively lean on eEuroparts to post more pictures, their parts listings seem to have gotten a little dodgy since they changed the style of their website... Still my favorite place to score parts, tho: Where I am in upstate NY most orders ground-shipped still arrive the next day.
