Car stalls, will not stay running

Last week while driving a workmate home whose timing belt had broken, my 87 Turbo hesitated while accelerating and a short time later stalled and would not start. I tried again - it ran for a few seconds and then died again and would not start, only crank. We pushed it to a safe place and started walking. First time since 1989 that I have be stranded in a Saab. I had it towed home. I started the car in the driveway and it seemed to run fine at idle for about ten minutes until I tried to accelerate the engine, then it died and would not start. I did a fuel flow test and it pumped about an ounce per second which is what the Bentley said is the minimum it should do. I do not have a suitable pressure gauge (at this time) to perform a pressure test. The feeder pump has been replaced on the vehicle about two years ago. I do not know if this is related to the problem; however, there has been an unusual sound from under the hood when I first start the car and accelerated. It made kind of a 'duck call' sound for a few minutes and then went away with no further noise on acceleration. I could not determine where this was coming from. It may or may not be related to the current problem. The odmeter is not working but I am fairly certain the car has over 200,000 miles on it. I am pretty familiar with most Saab problems but this one has me stumped for the time being. I tried some searches on the BB but did not come up with anything. Anyone got any ideas?
