The only fix I know of requires removing the lock cylinder, which means removing the door handle. No, it's not that bad. With the door panel off, the door handle is held on by two bolts. You should be able to get the lock cylinder in your hand in about 30 minutes.
The lock tumbler fits inside a metal cylinder. It's held in place by crimps on the metal cylinder, easily bent back with a needle-nose pliers. The door has a little metal spring that usually gets out of place.
I've repaired it a few times, but it doesn't seem to take. The last time, I just removed the door and spring completely. The little door does help keep moisture out, but instead of trying to fix it (for the third time), I just give the lock a squirt of silicone lube spray every couple of months, and it's been fine for years. But I doubt you can get the little door (flapper) out without removing the cylinder. Not a bad job.
