I am re-posting as I haven't gotten a good response yet(thanks for trying JT)-
Have replaced all vac hoses, crank sensor, headgasket 6 mos & 1000 miles ago plugs, rotor and cap, plug wires, and anything else that needed it.
First it would crank - run for a while and then die at idle. Ran all day with out getting below 1500RPM. Then it wouldn't crank for a couple of hours, or until it got cooled off. rechecked timing, cam position, etc.
Could it be (1) catalytic converter (2) MAF Sensor (3) Idle control sensor?
I can't afford to replace all three to see if they work or not. Can these be bypassed?
Sorry - didn't respond to first statement - My starter, etc. is fine - Car will turnover fine - I replaced battery twice - this time I have 1000 amp tractor battery to be sure of cranking power. Mechanic told me that the problem was lack of amps - not true now! Car will turnover but hits maybe once and then not again. has fire to plugs - may be flooding, but should that happen with direct fuel injection? Compression is 155/105/110/150 for cylinders 1-4. Is there something that you can do to check Idle control sensor - or bypass? Mass air flow sensor or onboard computer?
I feel like it is an electrical problem.
I just replaced all of the vacume hoses - etc. - raised vacume from 8 psi to 21-22 psi - That is not the problem - Any other suggestions? Please help - Mike
