And, along with what Doug said, if you do OK with internet (or 800 number) ordering, some of the site sponsors (including Sobstory, eEurporats.com, and thesaabsite.com [among others]) have good prices on the proper parts.
I've used Bosch platinums and they were OK. But I get the best results with NGK plugs. (if you do use Bosch plugs, avoid the Plus 4s like the plague - the electrodes tend to break off in 900T engines.)
Also, only get Bougicord spark plug wires - they have shielding that will prevent the APC controller from picking up interference that it will interpret as knock and kicking back the boost.
The intercooler location was one of those compromises between not having an intercooler at all and the cost of re-engineering the front end of the car (when SAAB was in a financial slump). You're right, it's not the best location, but with a little of your own engineering, you can either attach a fan to it or do some piping and install a larger front mounted intercooler. Some of the guys over on the Performance board can give you more detailed information on those two options.
PS - Welcome to SAAB 900s. You will *like* driving yours. I got an '88 SPG 6 years ago and, at highway speeds, it accelerated like an Olds 442 a buddy had. I don't have that car anymore - it kinda got hit by a semi. So, they're fast and they're safe :-)
