This might help...mine was doing the same thing. Only not so much over the bumps. The hall sensor attach point at the distributor gets hot and makes the wires brittle at the plug point. There also a sharp radius bend in the wire harness there. I just straightened mine out and put High Temp RTV around it and zip tied it down so as not to move. So far so good, no cutting out yet. Hope it helps.
