Hello,
You didn't state how long you had the trans. To erikkson, it is about the one year warranty. If is after one year, don't hold your breath. I had an erikkson rebuild with 24,000 miles on it, but since I store the car during the winter, three years had lapsed. Well, after a few calls/email and gettting a few different answers.-
Here is the response I got from them after sending a pic of the case cracked wide open-"IT APPEARS THAT ONE OF TWO THINGS HAPPENED. 1. ABRUPT START IE., DUMPING CLUTCH, OR 2. LACK OF LUBRICATION- IN THIS CASE ONE OF THE PINION BEARINGS CAN SEIZE, THE DIFFERENTIAL THEN HAS A HIGH SIDE LOAD THAT BREAKS THE CASE"
I expected alittle more from them, but it is basically my word against theres. I admit I drive the car hard sometimes, but I never dump the clutch and fluid level was fine.
I ended up finding a used five speed and replacing it myself. As for erikkson, if you are under one year, you are in good shape.
Try andrews-see link. They sell rebuilds for almost half the price of E. I was going that route until I found a used unit. Good Luck and I feel your pain.
