If you're pretty sure it's in the suspension, it could be any of the following:

- Ball joints that seem ok may still have unacceptable play in actual use. Bear in mind that the forces generated in service are much greater than you can generate with your arms, if you try to wiggle the wheel. The ball joints are internally spring loaded, so they don't rattle freely by hand even when worn. Also, if you don't put a spacer between the upper a-arm and a the frame when you jack the car, the ball joints will be loaded as the spring pushes down on the upper a-arm and the shock pulls up on the lower, preventing you from detecting any play. Try the factory/Bentley method of trying to move the ball joints using a prybar and/or BIG slip-joint pliers.

- You could have one or more worn a-arm pivot bushings. Inspect all 8 of them, looking particularly for a pivot pin that's not centered in the aluminum bushing carrier. Also, you might be able to detect a worn one by watching each one while someone turns the steering back and forth with the wheels on the ground - the steering forces may make the worn bushing apparent.

- Check for worn tie-rod ends with the steering wheel, same as for a-arm bushings. They may also be worn enough to cause a rattle, but not be detectable 'by hand'.

- Lastly, you may have worn out or otherwise loose shock absorber bushings. This is not a dangerous condition, but will cause an annoying rattle when the suspension rapidly reverses direction over sharp bumps, etc.
