The straw that broke the camels back syndrome. Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: G-05 antifreeze cause water pump noise, David, Sun, 26 Sep 2004 04:49:59 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It could very well be the flush and fresh coolant that made the pump noisy.
Any time when you change something in an old system you start a chain of reactions.
It is very well known that old water pumps can start to leak right after the coolant has been replaced, so it wouldn't be a surprise if it got noisy too.
I don't think it has anything to do with your choice of coolant though.
Did you by any chance replace the drive belts too, or adjusted them. A new belt tightened a little bit harder than the old one can wrech havoc with old bearings.
Another item to be careful with is the brake master cylinder. If it is old and have had the fluid in there for a long time you can bet your bottom dollar that if you flush it with new brake fluid it will start to leak or develop a sinking pedal soon after.
