Ok so the subject line is a little misleading, but not by too much. Yesterday and last night my area (Philadelphia) got dumped on with several inches of rain over a span of a few hours. Unfortunetly for me I got out of work at the time is was raing the hardest. I tried to take the high roads since the roads along the schuykill river were flooded and the expressway was closed down from flooding as well. Nonetheless even the high roads were flooding at the intersections. I kept getting rerouted because you could see the intersections had about 4 feet of water and cars AND suv's were trapped in it. Finally, within a few miles from my house I came to an intersection that had been flooded with 18"-24" of water and there was a Saturn, and another car (it was raining so hard I couldn't tell what the make was) stranded at this intersection. I pulled over and waited when a woman in a BMW 5 series slowly passes me and continues through the intersection. She makes it and I decide the it's do or die, literally, and I decide to proceed. Without fail my 21 year old Saab only hesitated for a fraction of a second and continued to trudge through. The car behind me stalled out at the intersection. Fortunetly a gas station was right there and two guys came out to help the guy in the stranded car. Thankfully, my dog and myself made it home safely, but only to find water in my basement literally pouring in and a leaky roof above one of the bedrooms.
Anyone else on this board live in the Philly area and experience that storm last night? It was a bad one.
Lastly to those of you who may live or know someone that lives in areas hit by these hurricanes, I'm sure this seems like a cake walk in comparison, but the point of the story is how my Saab has never let me down when I need it most.
