am gearing up to do this project so (that i can then tackle the 02 sensor), and have installed 2 ga. power wire running from trunk, up to near distribution block in engine bay.
bought some (what appear to be) aluminum 2 ga. eyelets and stripped the wire back to solder it into the eyelet but had no success. the wire totally fills the eyelet and i can't get the solder to run in there to bond the wire to the eyelet, even after applying flux to the wire in advance.
should i just crimp the sucker or what am i missing on the soldering? i was using a soldering gun, but i also have my dad's iron - maybe that would be better (ie hotter?). and does the aluminum in the eyelet conduct the heat well enough?
further, what is commonly done - leave the original power wire in position to take the power to the starter, or run a new wire there to delete the + battery terminal?
thanks in advance,
Wayne in Calgary
