Help with chattering APC Relay? Posted by vsfoxe [Email] ![]() ![]() |
'93 900 Turbo. Ran fine before I removed/reinstalled the Instrument Panel. Pressing brake stops chattering. Chatters with key on, engine not running. Hoses under dash seem right (thru firewall, splits, then splits again - all are connected - not removed during work). At some point while Instrument Panel was out, I noticed a white 2-pin plug (red wire & white wire) disconnected. Think it goes to Brake Switch(?) but it is not "keyed" and can be plugged in either way(?). Another white plug at other end of red white wire came undone, and is not "keyed" either.
And then there's the weird (to me) part - The APC Relay chatters until the temp gage goes just over half-way. Then it stops chattering and it's nice & peaceful! But when the car cools down to 1/4 of temp gage the chattering will start up again, until the temp goes up over 1/2 way.
Have a Bentley, but no pump & vacuum gauge.
Boost gage works (don't know what boost - car is not registered to find out).
Changed APC relay with known good from '90 SPG which runs perfectly.
Changed AMM with known good.
Tomorrow I'll remove and wrap the Knock Sensor to see what happens.
What is Temperature sensitive in the system? Suggestions? I've searched and read lots of posts!
