Instrument Cluster area and under the dash - several times, different angles, etc. Took my '90 SPG apart to compare notes on a couple things (hate to do that - that car runs perfect!).
My SPG's APC IS held in by 2 Torx screws, like yours. However, the '93 900T is held in by 2 pop rivets - looks factory (EPC for '93 shows 2 screws, but calls them rivets - 98 49 514). And - when I finish swapping APC's around tomorrow the '93 APC will be held in by Torx screws, just like the '90 SPG.
I agree that there must be something I messed up behind there, but I can't haven't found anything yet, and I'm grasping at straws now! I don't believe in "coincidental failure", any more than you do!
