You will need a timing light.
Scribe a mark on the head approx where a spark wire is(pick one on top). Then unclip the dist cap..leave wires on so you don't get them crossed up.
Disconnect Hall effect plug from side of dist and vac hose from module.
Remove bolt on distributor shaft clamp and pull the old dist out.
Remove cap from new dist and slide new dist in. Turn dist shaft with rotor to get the foot to engage the drive in the head...it only will go one way.
Replace clamp and partially tighten so you can still adjust dist.
Then put new dist cap back on and turn dist to line up the same top plugwire socket with the mark on the head to approximately position the dist.
Connect plug wires to cap.
Reconnect Hall plug to side of dist. Leave hose off until you set timing
Start car, should run OK, if not perfectly timed.
Now you should hook up a timing light to #1 plug and set timing to 16 BTDC. Ther is a rectangular slot in the clutch cover with a mark scribed that you line up with the 16 degree line on the flywheel. If you can't see the flywheel marks, you can use some white-out to paint a line. To find the mark put the car in 5th gear and push the car forward until the timing marks appear in the rectangualr slot. Paint a mark on the 16 degree line.
When timing is set, firmly tighten the clamp on the distributor base and reconnect hose.
The first time you do this, it will take 1/2 hour. Thereafter...15 minutes.
