Try using jumper cables to go directly to the starter with + and to the engine with ground. If you extended the battery cables, you could have disturbed the factory connections. I had a similar problem where the engine ground wire looked good, but underneath the heat shrink tubing, the copper wire was eaten/broken away and actually disconnected. Good Luck
