'91 TU16 conv kills ECU (ECUs)

Good evening!
I have a serious problem with a US 1991 Saab 900 Turbo 16 convertible. The problem started a couple of months ago. The car would not start. However, I could quickly find the cause for this - the fuel pump was not running. I have then pulled out the pump and put 12V on it: pump was working fine.
Still, after refitting the pump, the car still did not start, neither did the fuel pump. I then put a 9000 turbo 2,0 ECU in the car and it ran... though a bit "uneasy", but it ran.
Now the annoying thing:
Any appropriate LH 2.4 ECU (number #585)is destroyed approx. 2 min after the engine starts. It makes a "klack" sound (not that of a relay but of a blown-up electronic compoment) and the engine goes out. After that, there is no chance to restart the engine with that same ECU.
With a new ECU the car would run again for 2 minutes until the new ECU blows up as well.
As you can all imagine, this problem puts me in a quite futile situation. It's not that ECUs are that cheap and easy-to-find here in Germany...
Any hints, suggestions or recommendations?
I would be eternally thankful.
Regards
Tristan Bartz
