Suggestions on how to keep heat adjust rod attached? Posted by Saabpilot [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Car is an '83 900 turbo.
I am currently and expert at taking my dash apart in under 5 minutes since I've done this now 4 times in the last week!
Last week I had to pull it out to fix a wiring mistake made by the prior owner (cigarette lighter plug hooked up backwards) and when I was in there I accidentally disconnected the rod that turns the heater valve, which is connected to the temperature select knob on the dash. I have pulled the dash to re-attach this three times since. I have found that the two metal clips that attach the universal joint to the temperature select knob on the dash were pretty loose so this last time today I used a pliers to crimp them down tighter before I put them back on the universal joint.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a better method to attach that universal joint to the temperature select knob? I was thinking of perhaps wrapping a cable tie around the whole thing so the metal clips could not fall off again.
Thanks.
