What exactly are the problems that you're experiencing to get these estimates?
Like Jim said, '94 and later 900s are completely different. It's possible that you do have a leak at the shift shaft seal assuming a 5-speed). It doesn't happen to every 900, but it does happen.
On the lower shock mount issue, the things that can go wrong are that the mount breaks off the A-arm (weld or replace), the bushing on the shock goes bad, or the threaded portion of the mount post goes bad. So, you're probably right on the bushing issue unless they see a need to replace or repair the A-arm.
