I've personally gone through two in two years on an 87 760T volvo. Both were replaced under warranty but after the second one I just gave up and left it there. The car was an outside parked car and the caps just won't take the UV load.
My recommendation is to put on the fabric dash cap...looks kind of carpeting but last longer even though it fades. Unless of course you want to replace the plastic crap every other year at best.
There may also be dash restorers that can revinyl your dash after you remove it. I know of one in NW Washington state that offered to do mine...but they clump their dashes together and ship them off to Australia for rework...I figured it would cost around $600 and maybe 6-7 months. If I had a junker dash I might have done it, but what the heck. I understand they've grown and perhaps they have a US factory now.
Try google on dashboard restoration.
