Replace the receiver chip and try again. I don't have my bentley, but check all the fuses pertaining to the alarm receiver; I think they are under the back seat in the 94 cvt., not sure though.
If the second chip doesn't work in the receiver, try it in the remote. If it still lights up, then there's a receiver problem. Make sure there's power coming into the appropriate pin and the connections are solid.
I guess it could be the receiver itself. They are well protected and not that convenioent to get out. Perhaps a replacement from a salvage yard would be a good test.
