That's the correct symptom; I just replaced mine in August. It's too easy! I don't recommend farming it out unless you can't change a tire or bleed the brakes through. Here's what you need:
1. All the caliper bleed screws have to work.
2. Get a syringe to evacuate as much of the old fluid out of the old cylinder.
3. A friend to help with bleeding and cover brake lines when needed
4. I recommend having some spare rubber hose around in case the line to the clutch master starts leaking like mine did.
5. Soak the brake line fittings at the master cylinder with penetrant in case they have gotten sticky.

That's it- suck out as much of the old fluid as you can, loosen the bolts to the vacuum booster, remove and cap the brake lines, take the old one off, put the new one on, reconnect connections and lines, refill with brake fluid, and bleed EVERYTHING. I chose to bleed the slave cylinder, then all four calipers in order, then the slave again. Even though my clutch hydraulic system had been together for a year and a half, the fluid coming out through the slave was very dark (looked like motor oil) and yucky.
I now bleed new brake fluid through the brakes every other year, and do the slave yearly. Brake fluid is a heck of a lot cheaper than master cylinders, calipers, or clutch stuff.


BIG assumption: I'm talking about the non-ABS system here, which I have on my '88 base car. If you need to change the ABS distribution thingie and accumulator assembly, I cannot lend advice.

Total time: two and a half hours, with help, first time, doing a thorough job of it. You can do it!
