Make sure you use a volt meter or tester Posted by Saabpilot [Email] (#134) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabpilot) on Mon, 22 Nov 2004 14:06:46 In Reply to: wiring for vdo gauges, keith85spg, Mon, 22 Nov 2004 13:37:40 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
On my '83 the voltage is backward on the cigarette lighter plug from the rest of the connectors (the radio ones). Make sure you check which is positive and negative...I fried a couple of cell phone cords this way...oops....
Also check the wiring diagram for your year and make sure you know what size fuse is protecting that circuit. I'm sure the gauges don't draw much current. I'm just getting ready to add 3 Cyberdyne digital guages to my '83 and am probably going to pick up power off of my radio...but I ran a dedicated power circuit from the battery direct to the radio when I installed it.
