93vert,
Hope all's well.
SAAB Employed the Mistubishi TE05 turbocharger on the 1990-1993 900T which we find very capable to 230-240 BHP when being used in conjunction with additional modifications which render a boost pressure increase and/or eliminate restrictions (induction, exhaust, etc.). A turbocharger upgrade should only be considered when horsepower targets are beyond the realistic efficient range of the current turbocharger (in your case, 230-240 BHP) but a turbocharger upgrade, by itself (no additional modifications), will not always provide additional engine horsepower. If your power requirements are not ambitious, it may make more sense to avoid investing in a turbocharger upgrade and consider engine upgrades that would work around the factory TE05 turbocharger. If thinking about possible upgrades in the future that may exceed the 230-240 BHP target, a turbocharger upgrade would be a realistic investment.
Best of luck and regards,
GSK at SWEDISH DYNAMICS,INC.
