If you have a spare speedo with a working odo, why not just swap the speedo? It doesn't have anything to do with any of the other instruments.
It's super-easy to advance the mileage on an odo. So, if the spare odo has fewer miles, just use it and advance the mileage to the correct number... just pry apart the bracket that holds the number wheels a couple mm to disengage the drive, and spin the numbers. I don't think they'll spin backwards, though to be honest I've never tried it. I had to replace the speed on my 5-door since the old 85mph unit was driving me nuts, and replace the instrument cluster on my 2-door when I swapped the FI... it's a piece of cake!
