Cut up the parcel shelf and put 4x9s in it. I have some "high end"
audiobahn 4x10s in the rear and some 4" infinity kappas in the front all four speakers are powered by a 4 way alpine amp. Im really dissapointed with the "high quality" 4x10s in the rear. If i turn it up they distort at a relative low volume. I was very impressed with the kappas given theire small size and bad location in the dash. You could put 4x10s and run a high pass crossover(makes it so the speakers only produce highs) on them and put a sub in the back to take care of the low end. I plan on doing this soon. I think it will sound much better. Also i found that the speakers sound much better with an amplifier. My 40*4 watt(max power) alpine head unit did not power the speakers well enought so i bought a 40x4 watt (RMS) amp and the speakers sound much better. I believe that the RMS power is the power that the amp is able to deliver to the speakers. The max power rating is useless. My 40x4 head unit only has an RMS rating of 15 watts or so and that not enough for most high quality spearkers. If you dont want to put a sub in id suggest you cut holes in the parcel shelf and put 6x9s in. I seriously regret not doing this. Everyone on here wil tell you that a high quality 4x10 dies not produce enough base compared to any decent 6x9.
