I suspect a spark plug wire that has broken down internally and is causing the lumpy idle. Remove spark plug wires one at a time and see if there's a change in the motor rpm. If you find one wire that makes NO difference whether attached, or unplugged...this will give you a place to start troubleshooting. Switch the wire with another cylinder and see if the problem stays with the wire. Revving the motor with a bad wire can mask the problem, since things are happenening too quickly to notice.
