Roughly 3 hours refinish time(my model 99 guide says 2.5 hours), which is what insurance companies use when they write/pay claims. We charge ~$37/hr, so labor would be $111. For materials they allot the hours multiplied by ~$20/hr, so add $60 for materials, even though there is no way in hell you can buy your own materials for that little money. '92 blacks used on Saabs are not basecoat/clearcoat, so you'd be wasting your money if you wanted to clearcoat. We use PPG's paint system at work(DBC), and it's base/clear, so we clear every job we paint, but we can mix a fraction of a pint if that's all we need for the job. We also use an off brand clear(Matrix), which is alot cheaper than any clear that PPG sells. The least amount of paint you could buy over the counter is a pint. I just bought a pint a month ago and just the paint was ~$37 for DCC, which is a single stage system. Add for reducer and hardener, and you'll probably have close to $75 spent, if not more...paint is damn expensive anymore! Add for masking tape, primer, sandpaper, scuff pads, paper, wax and grease remover, and the costs increase.

~$171 is what a shop would/should charge for just refinishing, add for any body work that needs to be done, ie.> fixing dents or dealing with rust. It may be cheaper for you to have someone else do the work if it just needs re-painted. You could also save if you did all the prep work yourself, and just had them spray it. We sand and buff all jobs we do afterwards, which is really not included in the estimates, but there aren't too many places that could spray it without getting some dirt or orange peal in it.
