'92 convertible alarm Posted by Saana88 [Email] (#207) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saana88) on Sun, 9 Jan 2005 18:49:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This is a simpler post:
1. Do the screws holding the control unit to the body have to be in there, 'cause mine are missing. If they are needed (field ground, ground, or whatever other reason) what are they? Sheet metal screws? Here's what it says: "NOTE: On 9000s, the ECU must be securely fastened to its bracket to prevent false alarms. "
2. After the alarm has been without power for a long, long time, does anything need to be done to reset it? I've been reading technical info at Townsend's and elsewhere, but it's mainly geared toward 9000s. Here's what it says: "REMOVE AND REPLACE FUSE 22 IN EARLY 89s AND FUSE 19 IN ALL OTHERS UP TO 92, THE LED IN THE LEFT SPEAKER GRILL SHOULD FLASH 4 TIMES AFTER FUSE IS REINSTALLED. AFTER IT FLASHES, CLOSE ALL DOORS, BONNET AND BOOT, TURN KEY IN DRIVER'S LOCK TO UNLOCK AND HOLD FOR 10 SECS."
Of course, I'm willing to assume "fuse 22" above (9000) becomes fuse 4 or 5 on the '92 900 (Bentley 16V, p. 371-39)
3. Where are the hood switch, trunk switch, and sirens located? There's not a lot of light in there but I want this to work when the car comes out of storage.
I've replaced chips and powered it back up, but it's still not working. Next time I go to see her (tomorrow) I'll try the above procedure, but I'd like to get some more experienced input first.
Thanks again...
