Dead battery, white puddle under car.

Went to get the car, 92tc with 10066.00mi, out of the garage to wash it
since it was pushing 60F here in central Pa, and battery was dead.
Not even the dome lights would come on. Got the car jumped and took
it down to the local garage--they say the alt and battery test fine,
so I pick it up last night and go to the store for some gin, on my
way back home, the lights begin to dim and the car dies. Luckily,
I'm on the hill overlooking the garage, embarassed, I get out and push the car to get it started and roll down the hill to the garage. Have to wait till Monday now. The really weird thing is, I went out to the garage
this morning to get something, and noticed what looks like spilled milk on the floor under where the front passenger side of the car was. I didn't have time to inspect it, but I'm assuming it's battery acid. If it is, why would the battery still test ok? Anybody have experience with Interstate brand batteries? Does anybody have a favorite brand? Thanks!
