The 93 900 still have the hydraulic clutch system and what can happen is that the flex hose that you see entering the clutch area pops off its steel pipe.
Did you see any leaks under the car?
You also have the clutch master and slave cylinder that can both fail but usually if the clutch master cylinder fails it is gradually with a clutch that grabs to early and you have to declutch again and it works for awhile.
If the clutch slave cylinder goes out it also creates a leak from under the bell housing.
Check the flex hose first to see if it is firmly attached in both ends to a steel pipe and check the fluid level of the brake master cylinder (it works as the reservoir for the clutch too.
If it is plenty of fluid in the reservoir it might be a chance that someone has replaced the brake master cylinder and forgot to cut off the plastic tip for the clutch hose attachment so that no new fluid can enter the clutch system when it gets low (for some or another reason).
