On a Turbo, you can get away with 15' of 3.5-mm hose Posted by RS [Email] (#15) [Profile/Gallery] (more from RS) on Sat, 22 Jan 2005 11:06:09 In Reply to: vacuum hose size & quantity?, Russell Giuliano, Fri, 21 Jan 2005 08:13:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
That doesn't include replacing any of the ventilation controls under the dash. So, on a non-turbo, you can probably get away with 13' or so, but you'll want an extra bit to replace the small PCV hose when it gets too disreputable.
Like Saabu mentioned, you'll want the heavy-wall hose because it's more collapse-resistant than the thin-walled hose.
While you're in there, you might also want to replace the rubber bushings that hold the vacuum nipples into the intake manifold and valve cover. They tend to shrink with age and be an additional source of vacuum leaks.
