So, her entire cooling system has now revolted against her engine: water pump, radiator, cooling fan...
well, ive driven it a couple miles to gas station 2 times but that's as far as the old lady has been pushed (i did not let temp redline). after reading everyones very thoughtful, and softly put replies, i decided it was in my lady's best interest to have her towed. unfortunately (!), a 150 dollar towing fee is quite a bit when i also have to consider the cost of repairing known damage. so, ive been getting rides from a very cute and reliable Civic to and from work (and a couple of subarus too).
I did post in the 900 section right? I did say that she's an 8 valve with ALLLL the extra trimmings? or did someone mistake me for a doctor in need of a good saab specialist to revamp her stock turbo...
excuse my sarcasm, tainted with a reference to a Civic, i'm just messin, sorta. i still should be shot for putting the words "civic" and "reliable" in the same sentence on this kickbutt site, no matter how much truth the notion holds. I prolly shoulda included in my initial posts my financial situation. Maybe most of you don't know this so i will attempt to light a bulb or two, but the cost of repairing my saab, combined with towing fee is quite expensive. so expensive, far (FAR) surpassing what i could obtain for her, that i must question what sorta car, albeit most likely an american, that i could get with the money id spend fixing me little old saab. and again unfortunately, when i do the math im faced with the fact that 150 dollars, most likely more, if saved and put towards a different car, will leave me in the long run with a better mode of transportation when all is said and done.
what im getting at, and i regret that i actually have to consider her situation this way, is that risking driving my lady to her grave is less of a financial risk than having her towed. yes, her 2 liter 8 valve is very dear to me, and you, but to noone else but those reading this. i do not have the pocket change to whimsically persue a hopefully good health for her, despite the fact that i love her.
with all shades of sarcasm put aside, i will not drive her to her grave; i will have her towed. That being said, i am quite confident that im digging myself a certain financial grave of my own by doing so. Saabs are only appreciated by very particular car enthusiasts. maybe noone here has checked out his or hers car book value lately. i truly want to see my little 8 valve that could make it another hundred and reach 300 grand.

P.S. pics of my gorgeous hotrod, retailing at a very modest 50 dollars, are soon to come! Maybe once everyone sees them ill have the pleasure of being flamed again as to why id even consider risking her life over a 150 dollar towing fee!!!
